At the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) held the seventh day of reflection on the reform of the General Statute, an event that brought together students, professors and employees in the Agora of the Facultad de Ciencias Humanas. This space has become a key meeting point for the construction of a regulatory future that responds to the needs of the university community.
During the day, the participants had the opportunity to discuss and analyze the different drafts presented by the technical table of the student collegiate, as well as the proposals socialized by the Asociación de Profesores UIS (ASPROUIS). The dynamics of the event fostered consensus and collaboration, allowing diverse voices to be heard and concrete proposals to be generated around the reform.
For Guillem Solo, UIS student, “initially it had been planned to draw a single article, but we found another alternative proposal from the staff professors, so we are working to give legitimacy to the agreements that the technical table has reached, in order to unify a single agreement that will be presented to the university’s collegiate members”.
The attendees highlighted the importance of this type of space to strengthen the university’s internal democracy and ensure that all stakeholders have a voice in the reform process. The day not only served to review existing documents, but also to open a constructive dialogue to improve and update the General Statute, for the benefit of the educational community as a whole.
“It is very important that there is more participation of both students and workers, because this is a space that belongs to us as a university community and to claim it we must participate” said María José Ramirez, UIS student.
The UIS thus continues its commitment to participation and transparency, fundamental aspects in the evolution of its internal regulations, and reaffirms its role as a leader in higher education in Colombia. The next meeting is scheduled for November 21, and will seek to continue advancing in this process of reflection and consensus, with a view to the final approval of the proposed reforms.
