UIS Málaga advances with campus perimeter fencing, with 200 meters of panels installed

The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), Málaga campus, continues to make progress on the perimeter fencing project for its university campus. According to the third progress report presented by engineer Wilfer Padilla, who is in charge of the work, the project has advanced in the installation of triangular panels and the construction of the structural wall, despite the recent rainfall in the region.

As of the date of the report, 200 meters of fencing with triangular panels have been installed, while 400 meters of the steel structure that forms part of the wall have been completed. In addition, materials have been prepared for work on another 100 meters, allowing the scheduled activities to continue.

Specialized Manufacturing for Panel Installation

One of the processes requiring the greatest precision is the manufacturing of the triangular panels, which are produced in Bucaramanga using welded wire mesh with 15-by-15-centimeter openings and a wire diameter of 8.5 millimeters.

According to engineer Wilfer Padilla, the characteristics of this material require specialized machinery to bend the mesh and achieve the required triangular shape. To meet this need, a machine was designed and manufactured to improve production efficiency and ensure a steady supply of components for the project.

The panels are transported to Málaga in cargo vehicles, with regular deliveries helping maintain the pace of installation. According to the project manager, shipments arrive approximately every two to three days, depending on material preparation and logistical conditions.

Alongside panel installation, work continues on the construction of the structural wall. The report indicates that concrete pouring is underway in the Prados de Sevilla area, while scheduled activities continue at other sections of the project.
