The eleventh edition of the summit organized by UIS Emprende will be virtual, free, and open to the public. It will take place on October 28, starting at 8:00 a.m., and will feature three lectures and two panel discussions.
What do a technology for detecting respiratory abnormalities, a company that supplies wellness products to large retail chains, and a production company that creates content for social media have in common? Behind each project are people who identified an opportunity and figured out how to turn it into a business. Some of them will share their experiences at Eureka 2026, the entrepreneurship summit organized by UIS Emprende.
Now in its eleventh year, Eureka will bring together entrepreneurs, creators, and experts from various sectors to discuss the challenges of entrepreneurship and the opportunities offered by science, technology, and creativity. The event is open to everyone from those with just an idea to those already building a business and looking to take it to the next level.
Science and Technology to Address New Challenges
The first discussion session will focus on startups in the fields of health, wellness, and agriculture. Participants will include María Alexandra Artunduaga, founder of Samay, which develops technology for the early detection of respiratory disorders; Andrés Anaya Isaza, co-founder of Indigo Holding, with expertise in bioengineering and early cancer detection; Natalia Cano, a pediatrician and founder of Docokids, an initiative focused on children’s health; and Santiago Hernández Villamizar, scientific director of Sciphage S.A.S., a company that promotes biotechnological solutions for agriculture and environmental sustainability.
Their experiences will shed light on how an idea born from research or professional practice can evolve into a solution with real-world applications.
New Markets, Artificial Intelligence, and Business Models
The second roundtable discussion will bring together three leaders who are transforming industries through technology and new value propositions. Natalia Jiménez Aristizábal, founder and CEO of Xaia Lab, will discuss the role of artificial intelligence in the transformation of organizations. Esteban Hernández Dugand, commercial director and co-founder of Superfüds, will share his experience in growing a wellness brand and expanding into major retail chains. Natalia Salcedo Franco, founder and CEO of Pitz, will present her vision for transforming automotive services through technology.
Three talks to turn ideas into action
The program will also feature Felipe Saruma, content creator and founder of Vertical Cinema Estudios. In “Professionally Empirical,” he will share his journey on social media and the creation of an audiovisual company with an international reach.
Storyteller and consultant Luis Felipe Barrientos will lead “Problem Solving: The Path of Creative Thinking,” a conversation about creativity as a tool for tackling challenges. Meanwhile, Santiago Rojas Montoya, co-founder of Cube Capital and General Partner at Meridian 75, will present the talk “How to Raise Capital,” focused on a crucial topic for those looking to grow their businesses.
Eureka 2026 will be an opportunity to hear firsthand experiences, learn about different approaches to entrepreneurship, and discover useful ideas for your own projects. Students, alumni, entrepreneurs, business owners, and the general public are invited to participate.
The summit will take place virtually on October 28, starting at 8:00 a.m. Participation is free and requires prior registration: https://eureka.uis.edu.co/
