The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) continues to strengthen its Quality Management System through an External Follow-Up Audit conducted by the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification (ICONTEC), as part of its certification under the NTC ISO 9001:2015 standard.
The opening ceremony took place at the Jorge Zalamea Auditorium and was led by lead auditor Óscar Julián Porras, together with the audit team and interdisciplinary professionals. The purpose of the audit is to determine whether the Quality Management System complies with the requirements of the standard, verify its ability to meet legal and regulatory requirements, assess its effectiveness, and identify opportunities for improvement.
From Wednesday, August 12, through Friday, August 14, different components of institutional management will be reviewed, including performance indicators, risks, corrective and improvement actions, internal audits, documentation, and evidence related to compliance with the objectives of the Quality Management System.

Evaluation of Processes and Services at the University
In addition, the audit plan includes the evaluation of processes related to education, research, outreach, planning, student welfare, admissions and academic records, library services, institutional communications, records management, physical resources, human resources, information technology services, international relations, cultural management, and financial management, among others.
The audit also includes a review of UISALUD, the Legal Clinic, and the Institute of Languages, as well as processes carried out at the Barbosa regional campus and the Guatiguará Technology Park (PTG).

“This exercise reaffirms our commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and the provision of services that build trust within the university community and among citizens. These processes allow us to identify our strengths and opportunities for improvement, as well as define actions that will enable us to make significant progress in our improvement plans,” said Cristian Blanco Tirado, UIS Vice President for Research and Outreach.
Through this process, UIS reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving its processes and strengthening institutional management focused on quality, effectiveness, and the achievement of the objectives that support its academic, research, outreach, and administrative functions.
