To facilitate the enrollment process for the second academic semester of 2026, the Library of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) encourages undergraduate students to return borrowed books and other library materials in advance, as well as to pay any outstanding overdue fines.
Members of the university community must be in good standing with the University in order to complete their enrollment, which is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, July 22, through Friday, July 24.
How to Return Books and Pay Fines
UIS Library offers two options for returning borrowed library materials. The first is to complete the process in person during library hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., when library staff will receive the materials and register their return in the system.
The second option is to use the self-service book return machine, located at the entrance of the Library building and available 24 hours a day.
Once the materials have been returned, the system automatically calculates any overdue fines. The payment receipt indicates the amount due and the number of overdue days, allowing students to make the payment immediately using their student identification number.

The University also provides three self-service payment kiosks, located at the Central Library, the Student Welfare Building, and the Faculty of Health. These kiosks allow students to pay their fines using physical or digital debit and credit cards, as well as cash.
“It is important to complete these procedures well in advance to avoid any inconvenience when finalizing enrollment. Our goal is to simplify this process by offering different options so students can settle their accounts quickly and efficiently,” said Sonia Cristina Gamboa Sarmiento, Director of the UIS Library.
Through these services, the University provides students with convenient alternatives for returning library materials and paying overdue fines, helping them obtain the required library clearance before the enrollment period for the second academic semester.
