As part of its commitment to social responsibility and the dignity of education in the regions, the Universidad Industrial de Santander, UIS, made a donation to the Industrial School of Oiba, in the Comunera Province. The contribution included furniture, laboratory material, electronic equipment, machinery and computer elements destined to improve teaching and learning conditions at the primary and high school levels.
“Since the UIS authorized the transfer, parents and students managed resources to transport the elements in trucks. It was a collective effort that will directly benefit teachers and students, strengthening each of the classrooms and administrative areas of the institution,” said Deissy Jaimes Valbuena, rector of the Escuela Industrial de Oiba.

He also highlighted the quality of the items received. “The UIS does not allow any equipment to be transported that is not in perfect condition. This guarantees that everything that arrives in our classrooms is ready to be used immediately,” he said.
Among the resources delivered are computers, tables, desks, filing cabinets, storage equipment, video beams and other devices that will contribute to the strengthening of the technical training offered by the School.
Sara Rocío Rincón Castellanos, a tenth grade student, expressed her gratitude to the University for this support. “These elements help us to improve the learning process. Our school does not have many resources, and this donation helps not only us, but also those who come in lower grades and future students. We are a technical school and the benefit is very great,” he said.

With initiatives like this, the UIS continues to strengthen educational equity and community development in Santander, providing tools that expand opportunities for hundreds of children and young people.
