The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) was the venue for the first Regional Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management, organized in conjunction with the Colombian Association of Engineers ACIEM Sectional Santander. This event, which took place this morning, brought together an outstanding group of experts, academics, professionals and students of the sector, all committed to the evolution and improvement of maintenance in the industry.
The forum focused on addressing the latest trends, strategies and technologies in maintenance and asset management, offering attendees a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Throughout the day, conferences, talks and panel discussions were held, where participants had the opportunity to listen to leaders of renowned companies in the region, such as Ecopetrol, Bavaria and ESSA.
William Pinto Hernández, UIS professor, emphasizes that “at the asset management level, the academy plays an important role because it establishes or defines conditions of competencies for our graduates”.

For Daniel Enrique Medina, national president of ACEM, the purpose of the forum is “to analyze the state of asset management and maintenance, how companies, industries and universities in the region manage it”; likewise, he stressed that Santander is a territory with a lot of industry and that these spaces seek to ensure that the assets of each company are well managed.
For his part, Guillermo León Valencia, manager of ESSA, this regional forum is important “because asset management is the fundamental basis in the case of companies like ESSA, because it is the possibility we have to maintain high levels of quality and availability of our networks”. He affirmed that the UIS as a recognized university in the department and therefore its engineering careers “support us in the company to carry out all our projects”.
The speakers shared their knowledge and best practices, fostering a collaborative learning environment that benefited all those present. This event not only highlighted the importance of maintenance and efficient asset management in the industry, but also reaffirmed the commitment of the UIS and ACIEM to promote professional and academic development in Santander.
The success of the first Regional Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management sets a precedent for future meetings in the region, consolidating the UIS as a reference in the discussion of key issues for the industry.
