With great acceptance and participation, the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) has inaugurated the symposium entitled “Integral Understanding of Chronic Pain: Synergy, Body, Mind and Emotions”. This event, which will be held from November 18 to 20, aims to deepen the understanding of chronic pain from different perspectives, integrating physiological, psychological, emotional and physical activity sciences.
The Director of Postgraduate Studies and speaker at the symposium, Esperanza Herrera Villabona, highlighted the relevance of addressing this topic, noting that “dealing with chronic pain is vital to train the community on a multidimensional phenomenon that not only involves the perception of pain, but also emotions and various cognitive areas.” Herrera stressed that chronic pain has a significant impact on quality of life, coexistence and personal performance in all areas.
The symposium will feature prominent speakers from the fields of health and psychology, who will share their knowledge and strategies for the management of chronic pain. Juan Felipe Reyes, a UIS student, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, commenting that “it has been very interesting, as new programs have been addressed in addition to the traditional ones, as well as new ways to treat chronic pain.” Reyes emphasized the importance of the university continuing to organize spaces of this type.
The UIS invites all those interested to participate in this symposium that seeks to provide valuable tools for the comprehensive understanding of chronic pain, a topic of common interest to society.
