Benefits of being a UIS professor
“Being a career professor at UIS is one of life’s great prides, it is to have an ecosystem for the development of academia and research at the highest level, with institutional accreditation of high quality, both nationally and internationally, as well as all the opportunities for professional, academic, personal and family development that being a UIS professor gives us”: said Professor Daniel Sierra Bueno, academic vice rector.
“The UIS is a university that prides itself on offering welfare features above the expected. We professors have many advantages such as having our own health unit (UISALUD) with a higher level of care; welfare benefits can be associated with the Fund; housing programs, safe savings, recreational headquarters, Bienestar Pro, a building where teachers can go to have space for rest, reading, recreation and many more benefits, “said Professor Sofia Pinzon Duran, secretary general UIS.
Once the call process is completed and based on the score obtained by each of the contestants, recorded in the respective minutes, the Rector will issue a Resolution that establishes the list of eligible candidates, which will indicate the winning candidate of the contest to whom the salary offer will be made.
The work environment at the UIS is ‘very satisfactory’.
In December of last year, the UIS received good news, after the certification of a multinational company confirmed that the work environment at the UIS is “very satisfactory”.
After a measurement that included a survey of more than 1,200 employees and professors of the UIS, the international firm Great Place to Work certified that our university is at a very satisfactory level in terms of work environment, which makes it an attractive employer in the country and also an example to follow, thus contributing to make Colombia a better country for everyone.
The Great Place to Work seal is a global benchmark that measures and evaluates the experience of employees within the company, using surveys and advanced analysis that they fill out directly, which is why it legitimizes the practices from the point of view of the collaborator and shields the possibility of being influenced by external agents.
According to the results, the UIS is a very attractive employer, showing interesting policies and practices, with relationship dynamics that go towards excellence. The challenge, according to Elizabeth Duarte Arenas, project director of the Great Place to Work Institute in Colombia, “is to maintain a very good work environment because we believe that the work environment should be managed as a competitive advantage in organizations”.
UIS employees were pleased to receive this news, which shows that they feel proud of the university, that they want to work here for a long time and that they recommend the institution.
