In the first week of April, a group of nine students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Primary Education will undertake a significant three-month immersion experience in various public educational institutions located in rural areas of the departments of Amazonas, Quindío and Boyacá. This initiative is part of the “VIVA LA ESCUELA” program of the Ministry of Education, which seeks to transform education in Colombia.
The purpose of the Volunteering for the Transformation of Education program is to mobilize university students and senior students in their final year of studies to contribute, on a voluntary basis, to the pedagogical processes in certified educational institutions and territorial entities. During their internship, students will not only provide support in the classroom, but will also participate in the implementation of educational strategies aimed at improving learning and promoting school coexistence.

This effort seeks not only to benefit students in their professional training, but also to have a positive impact on rural communities, where education faces various challenges. Through this practice, future teachers are expected to acquire valuable experiences that strengthen their commitment to education and social development in the country.
The participation of students in “Viva la Escuela” represents the commitment of the Universidad Industrial de Santander UIS as an agent of change, bringing its educational quality to the classrooms that need it most.
