
The university community is invited to learn about the management plans and proposals of the six officially registered candidates in the selection process for the Rector of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) for the 2025–2028 term. This process will be key in defining the institutional direction over the next three years.
According to the Office of the General Secretary, and in compliance with Agreement No. 07 of 2025 from the Superior Council, the nomination period officially closed on March 28 at 4:00 p.m., with the registration of the following candidates, listed in order of registration:
- Héctor Alirio Méndez Sánchez
- Luis Fernando Bueno González
- Edgar Ricardo Monroy Vargas
- Elena Stashenko
- Carlos Enrique Vecino Arenas
- Hernán Porras Díaz
This process is fundamental to the future of UIS, as it will determine who will lead the academic, research, and administrative strategies that will shape the development of the institution and its commitment to high-quality higher education.
Important dates to remember:
- April 24: Candidates’ Forum, 8:00 a.m. at the Luis A. Calvo Auditorium.
- April 25: Last day to request inclusion in the alumni system (institutional database) in order to participate in the vote to form the shortlist of candidates: https://youtu.be/iD9szjVWegA
- April 28: Opinion poll to form the shortlist of candidates.
- April 30: Superior Council session to appoint the new UIS Rector.
