Sharing experiences, exchanging knowledge, and building connections across sectors are among the opportunities offered by the 4th Subsurface Energy Resources Week and the 10th Hydrocarbon Research Symposium. These events provide a platform for dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders in the energy industry.
From Tuesday the 13th to Friday the 16th, the UIS School of Petroleum Engineering will promote knowledge exchange on day-to-day operations in oil wells and the challenges facing the industry amid ongoing changes in Colombia’s national energy sector.
Emiliano Ariza León, Director of the UIS School of Petroleum Engineering, highlighted the importance of this international event:
“This will be a week filled with knowledge, conferences, and talks designed to bring us together and share experiences from across the energy sector, particularly the hydrocarbons industry. We hope the entire university community will take advantage of these opportunities and actively participate.”

Colombia energy future
This week’s academic program will feature keynote lectures, research presentations, international symposiums, poster competitions, a gathering of alumni and industry professionals, award ceremonies, contests, guided tours of the Central Campus, and other activities.
“For students and professionals at the University, it is important to understand that beyond engineering and the concepts they learn here, there is a broader world of factors that must be managed synergistically and in a structured way to achieve the goals of these projects,” said Óscar Armando Arenas Mantilla, Well Engineering Leader at Halliburton.

The event schedule is provided below for members of the university community interested in attending the various academic activities.
Through these initiatives, UIS reaffirms the importance of knowledge exchange and cross-sector collaboration in addressing the challenges of the energy transition and contributing to a sustainable future for Colombia.
