The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) continues to promote the skills and talent of its student community in international spaces. Daniela Vega Villamizar, a tenth semester student of Chemical Engineering, was selected to represent the UIS in the International Mobility Program to be held at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain.

The young university student will live a significant experience for her academic training, by participating in a course on engineering design and technological innovation. “This course is designed so that students can strengthen our skills, share experiences and learn new ways of engineering from a global approach. I am looking forward to interacting with classmates from other countries and being part of a different academic environment,” said Vega Villamizar.

Daniela’s selection was made through an open call organized by the Colombian Association of Engineering Schools (ACOFI) and was supported by the UIS Office of External Relations. “I found out about the call thanks to Professor Fernando Viejo, from the School of Chemical Engineering, who encouraged me to participate. Then I prepared the required documents, along with a letter of motivation, and after two weeks of waiting I received the news that I had been selected,” she said.

The news filled his family with pride and joy, and they are celebrating this training opportunity in Europe. “My family is very happy. They know all the effort I have made during these years, and seeing this type of opportunity open up for me has been a source of great satisfaction for everyone,” added the student.

In addition, Daniela has had the constant support of the UIS Office of External Relations, which has provided support in all the necessary procedures to make her trip a reality. “Since I knew the results, the Foreign Relations Office has provided me with detailed advice on the necessary procedures and documents. They also helped me with the tickets and international insurance, key aspects to make the trip a reality,” she said.

In this way, the UIS ratifies its commitment to open paths towards the internationalization of its students, strengthening their academic and professional profiles in high-level scenarios.
