The donation of plant material was made in the framework of the strategy led by the Government called “At Christmas give a tree to Santander”.
A total of 338 trees of the yellow guayacán and alder species were delivered to the Mayor’s Office of Molagavita and the Mayor’s Office in San Andrés in the province of García Rovira, in the framework of the work articulated with the Santander Government and the reforestation strategy.
In this regard, the professor, Ricardo Oviedo of the forestry engineering program of the UIS Malaga Headquarters, said that the donation involves the entire community to care for the species.
“From the forestry engineering program we joined the strategy of the Government of Santander and we have delivered more than 300 trees to the region. It is important to emphasize that the plant material was propagated by the students themselves and the call we make is that the inhabitants of each municipality contribute to the care of them”.
For his part, the mayor of the municipality of Molagavita, Arnulfo Ramirez, extended his gratitude to the UIS Malaga Headquarters for the donation of each tree.
“As Municipal Administration we value this donation that makes us the Headquarters UIS Malaga and reiterate the commitment we have with the environment and reforestation campaigns. I invite the entire community to contribute a grain of sand and be careful because each tree represents life, beautification and is a great contribution to our water sources, “said the mayor.
Adriana Espinel, a student of the forestry engineering program said that the donated species are important for the restoration and ecological care in the region. She also reiterated the university’s commitment to the care and preservation of the ecosystem.
