The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) developed an innovative software tool for the generation and markup, in a single step, of multiple digital formats (HTML, EPUB, PDF, XML JATS) necessary for the publication and reading of scientific documents.
With this tool, articles published in UIS Journals will optimally comply with the principles and criteria of the semantic web, improve metadata management and conform to open access guidelines, thus optimizing available resources.
In addition to eliminating the current delay in the conversion and publication of different formats, this tool will facilitate access to our scientific publications for the research community, promoting greater visibility.
This development is part of an ongoing effort by the UIS to strengthen the quality and prestige of its publications, and is supported and financed by the UIS-Minciencias projects: Project 92127, entitled Improving the visibility, quality and impact of the journals Salud UIS and Revista UIS Ingenierías, through bibliometric studies, digital positioning, technological innovation and optimization of production processes, under the direction of Professor Alberto David Pertuz Comas, from the School of Mechanical Engineering; and project 95644, entitled Strengthening of capacities related to editorial management, visibility and impact of institutional scientific journals of the Universidad Industrial de Santander, directed by Professor Sandra Judith García Vergara, from the School of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science.
With the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation – Minciencias, the UIS reaffirms its commitment to foster a rigorous and ethical research environment.
