With Their Furry Friends, the Campus UIS Becomes a Gathering Place for Man’s Best Friend

Big, small, purebred, mixed, or simply mutts — just like their human Neighbors and Friends, the UIS warmly welcomes the most pampered members of the household every Sunday.

Just like during the week, when classes and academic events take place, the UIS campus remains an open space where loyal companions can run, jump, bark, and enjoy the freedom and safety the facilities offer. For this reason, the 2025 reactivation of the institutional program has been warmly embraced by the community.

“It was such joyful news for those of us with pets because it’s a space meant for everyone — not just humans but also for pets. It gives us the freedom to let them off the leash in a safe environment for both them and us,” said Andrea Carolina Maldonado Vargas, UIS visitor.

He shared, “I think it’s a really cool Sunday plan — to come walk with your dog and take part in the events and activities here, and enjoy the culture in such a beautiful and impressive space.”

Children and adults alike join in the weekend programming, engaging with art, games, creativity, sports, dance, and yoga, all under the guidance of the Dirección Cultural of the Universidad Industrial de Santander.
