The Specialized Health Unit of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UISALUD) will hold the third workshop of the preventive program “De Todo Corazón” on Saturday, November 23. This event will be held at the Casona La Perla, located in the central campus, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 m. and will be focused on the topic “Diets: myths and truths”, as part of the strategies to promote prevention and self-care among its users.
“Fortunately we will be able to hold the third meeting of the year. This workshop is a day composed of various interventions by professionals, with integration activities and talks aimed at reducing cardiovascular risk rates,” said Heide Zaret Cáceres Villamizar, administrative and financial assistant director of UISALUD. During the event, attendees will be able to access key information on how to maintain a healthy diet and demystify misconceptions related to diet and health.
The workshop will feature two keynote lectures given by renowned experts in health and nutrition. The first will be given by nutritionist Luz Ximena Martinez, and the second will be given by endocrinologist Rafael Castellanos, addressing the main myths about healthy eating. “We will have Dr. Castellanos, who has more than 20 years of experience with great expertise in nutrition, diabetes and metabolic syndrome. He is also an internist and will offer all his knowledge to our users,” added Cáceres Villamizar.
The management of UISALUD has expressed its concern about the low attendance at previous workshops, despite the positive results evidenced in patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases. Cáceres Villamizar called on the community to take advantage of these activities designed with high professional rigor. “We are concerned about the issue of attendance. We extend the invitation to our users, affiliates and people attached to the workshop to participate and take advantage of the activities and the knowledge imparted. On average, we have had the presence of only 130 people, but our population identified with cardiovascular risks exceeds 1,000 users,” he stressed.
This workshop represents an invaluable opportunity to acquire practical tools and knowledge that contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, improving the quality of life of the attendees. UISALUD reiterates its commitment to the well-being of its users and looks forward to active participation in this new edition of the “De Todo Corazón” program.
