The rector of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), Hernán Porras, held a meeting with the Minister of Mines and Energy, Edwin Palma, to reaffirm the university’s support for a Just Energy Transition through research and training programs that strengthen students’ and the community’s knowledge of clean energy generation systems.
One of the key topics discussed was the possibility of reactivating the field school, a practical training space where students can engage with renewable energy systems. This initiative aims to complement theoretical education with hands-on experience, ensuring a more comprehensive preparation for future professionals in the energy sector.

Promoting learning in renewable energy is crucial on the path to a more sustainable future. The energy transition requires skilled professionals in clean and efficient technologies who can design, operate, and optimize renewable energy systems. In this context, these practice spaces play a fundamental role, allowing students to gain experience in real-world scenarios, familiarize themselves with equipment operations, and strengthen their innovation capabilities.
Through these initiatives, UIS continues to affirm its commitment to being a key player in transforming the country’s energy system, fostering academic spaces that contribute to sustainable development and the training of specialized talent in clean energy.
