Graduates of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) held a day of reflection in hybrid mode, where professionals from various promotions participated with the aim of analyzing proposals and needs related to the reform of the General Statute of the institution.

“The idea is to continue discussing what concerns the updating of the General Statute of the university. The most relevant points that, as graduates, we must deal with are the election of the rector and his functions, as well as the participation of the representatives before the Superior Council and the periods of permanence in their positions”, highlighted Mario Betancurt, representative of the graduates before the Superior Council of the UIS.

During the meeting, they emphasized the need to keep the discussion open and to invite more alumni interested in contributing to this process. In addition, they pointed out the importance of analyzing the documents prepared by the student community after eight previous days of reflection, as well as the contributions made by the institution’s professors.

“We want widespread participation, not only from students and professors, but also from alumni, because our experience in the professional field is key to contribute to the university. It is essential to modernize the General Statute, since many of its points need to be updated to respond to the needs of the new generations,” said Trina Gualdrón, vice president of the Association of Alumni of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (ASEDUIS).

Finally, the participants expressed their gratitude for the space provided for the meeting and expressed their intention to continue organizing similar meetings. The objective is to consolidate a final document that will be presented to the Superior Council of the UIS, in order to achieve a reform that responds to the current demands and challenges of the university community.
