The Universidad de los Andes hosted the “ABET and Program Assessment Summit & Networking”, a series of workshops organized by ABET that brought together academic leaders, accreditation experts and representatives of universities with internationally accredited programs.

At the event, a high-level panel was held with the participation of Colombian universities that have achieved the prestigious ABET accreditation. Among the guests was Professor Sandra Judith García Vergara, Dean of the Faculty of Physical and Chemical Engineering of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), who shared the institution’s experience in the accreditation process, the challenges faced and the advantages identified on the road to academic excellence.

During her speech, Professor García Vergara highlighted how ABET accreditation has been a fundamental pillar for the implementation of a continuous improvement model in the Engineering and Geology programs, generating a cultural change within the university. In addition, success stories and innovations in the processes of evaluation and improvement of the curriculum, aligned with the current demands of the industry, were presented.
