Little by little, the Luis A. Calvo Auditorium opens its curtains again in 2022 for the community to enjoy a varied cultural agenda. Such is the case with the play ‘The Trojan Women,” which will be staged on January 28th at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The story focuses on six women who decide to return to what was once their homeland, ten years after the massacre that took place in their town. They return with the intention of starting over, and while they fix up the house, they find in certain objects the links that move them to tell their story.
The Santander-based theater collective Diente de León is responsible for ‘Las Troyanas’. The group was founded in 2016; three years later it won the Small Format Performing Arts Piece Creation Grant of the initiative ‘Bucaramanga, Believe in your Talent’, from the Instituto Municipal de Cultura y Turismo (IMCT). From there, the work ‘Ad-verso’ was created, which is inspired by the life of the Antioquia-born poet Porfirio Barba Jacob.
On the other hand, ‘Las Troyanas’ was born after being the winning group of phases 1, 2 and 3 of the Santander Theater Creation Call 2020. There, its members obtained a grant for the development of an unpublished piece of performing arts. Manuel José Jaimes is currently in charge of dramaturgy and direction.
