Leidy Sierra Guevara is a graduate chemist from the UIS and represented the University at the III Congress of Virology that took place in Valencia (Spain).

There, she participated in the poster modality with the research work on the metabolomic study of interferon kappa re-expression in in vitro cellular models of cervical cancer infected with human papillomavirus.

“I thank the UIS and the Vice Rector’s Office for Research and Extension for the support provided to participate in the Virology Congress of the University of Valencia. I had the opportunity to share with researchers, students and virology professionals to learn about the latest advances and discoveries in the study of viruses, their mechanisms of action and their impact on global health,” said Sierra Guevara.

This participation was made possible thanks to funding from the Eloy Valenzuela Award, which she won along with professors William Hidalgo and Bladimiro Rincón, in the category of Best Research Work of the Faculty of Sciences.
