The Universidad Industrial de Santander will continue for two more years as a principal member of the Board of Directors of Unired after the Ordinary General Assembly of the Corporation, in which the rector Hernán Porras Díaz participated.

During the meeting, the management balance of 2024 was delivered, which was focused on the activation of the Santander Higher Education Cluster initiative.

“With this we seek to articulate and sit at the same table the public and private actors of the higher education ecosystem of the department. The UIS has been a founding member for 25 years, and its presence is essential for us to promote strategies,” said Bibiana López Acevedo, director of Unired.

In turn, they are working on a project that Unired wants the UIS to lead and that is the creation of an Education Observatory to measure the gaps and make a traceability to regional education.

“By having data we will be able to make better strategies and decisions so that education remains at the forefront and thus improve the quality of life of the people of Santander,” added Lopez Acevedo.

The UIS was also represented at the session by Gerardo Latorre Bayona, administrative vice-rector, who participated in the review of Unired’s budget for 2025 and in the socialization of the action plan for the current year.
