With an important degree of compliance, according to the results of the Institutional Self-evaluation Report, the Universidad Industrial de Santander had a score of 4.98, out of 5.0, in Factor 1, which corresponds to the Institutional Mission and Project.

This was a joint work in which students, professors, managers, administrative staff, graduates, employers, and external actors participated. The self-evaluation seeks to contribute to the adoption of a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Among the results of Factor 1, the following stand out:

The Institutional Mission and Project (updated in 2018) are fundamental referents for the development of teaching, research and extension functions, and administrative processes.

The human quality, high commitment, and sense of belonging of the university community guarantee the quality development of the mission processes.

The articulation of the substantive functions favors the integral formation of students, the projection of the results of research and innovation in teaching, and the resolution of problems in science, technology, professions, disciplines, and society in general.

The updating of the Institutional Project, through an exercise of collective construction, favored the analysis of the local, national and global environments; the prioritization of key initiatives for the future; and the identification of unique capabilities that allow the University to increase its social impact and offer maximum value to the region to which it owes its existence.

The permanent updating of institutional policies, regulations, and plans, through participatory processes, favors the development of missionary and administrative processes.

UIS has consolidated its position as the most important cultural heritage of the region and positioned itself as one of the most important Higher Education institutions of high-quality in the country.

The Institutional Self-Assessment was a collective process, carried out between 2019 and 2021, which made it possible to determine the strengths and areas for improvement at the University.

It was a critical look of the university community on the Mission, Vision, policies, regulations, processes, tasks, resources, and achievements, many of which occurred during the term of the last renewal.

The next step is the External Evaluation; to this end, in the coming weeks a group of academic peers, delegated by the National Accreditation Council, will visit the University to learn, firsthand, the significant progress of the last 8 years (2014 – 2021).
