A collection of nearly 200 works on women in engineering, human sciences, basic sciences and Nobel Prize winners is now in the basement and on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of the Central Library for the literary enjoyment of the entire university community.

At the same time, a special exhibition on the Second World War was inaugurated in the Thematic Cultural Room, on the second floor of the Library, which has about 120 works that help to understand more about this historical event of humanity.

“On each floor of the Library we had collections with works written exclusively by women in different areas of knowledge. On the other hand, we have a collection on the Second World War in which there are a significant number of authors who have reflected, written and thought about this topic. We thought it was important to promote their reading in 2025, the 80th anniversary of the end of this war, in order to generate reflection in those interested”, explained Pedro Antonio García Obando, director of the UIS Library.

It is estimated that these collections will be available until the end of this semester, so you can approach the Library and choose the topic that most interests you.

“As a woman, these collections make me feel proud and satisfied because they highlight the knowledge of women in many areas and it is important that the presence of the female gender is valued to avoid discrimination. I like that the university rebuilds and vindicates the presence of women with the creation of these spaces,” said Ángela Lucía Angarita Forero, a law student.

In the coming days, discussions and special events will be held in the Library to learn more about these topics. Dates and times will be communicated in a timely manner through the institutional social networks.
