The 60th anniversary of the creation of the Civil Engineering program was celebrated with a research socialization seminar.
In these six decades, 5,374 people have graduated, 656 specialists and 206 masters in various areas of civil engineering. Currently, the School is in the final stage for the approval of the Doctorate in Civil Engineering.
This program has been recognized on multiple occasions for its academic quality. It has received accreditations from the National Accreditation Council and the Ministry of National Education, in addition to obtaining the prestigious international accreditation ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) in 2021, guaranteeing that its training meets the highest global standards.
“It is a milestone to be 60 years old, a time in which progress has been made in technological issues, infrastructure, generating good for the UIS. Tomorrow (Friday) we will have national and international guests speaking on areas of structures, roads, soils, pavements and we will meet again with graduates of the program,” said Miller Humberto Salas Rondón, director of the School of Civil Engineering.
The commemoration of these 60 years is a celebration of the past, but also a look to the future, with the commitment to continue being leaders in the training of civil engineers who contribute to the sustainable development of Colombia and the world.
“It is an exceptional opportunity for us, who are dedicated to the field of research, and thus show our progress and give a step to undergraduate students to innovate,” said Diana Paola Ardila Aragon, a student of the Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and one of the speakers at the seminar of socialization of research.
