The central campus of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) received the first cohort of 65 students of the Professional Technical Program in Execution of Cultural and Creative Projects. These young people, from the UIS Floridablanca campus, took a tour with the objective of identifying the university’s assets of heritage interest, as part of the “Vive el Patrimonio” project.
Professor Luis Alejandro Palacio highlighted the relevance of students taking ownership of UIS spaces, emphasizing that it is essential that they feel part of the university. “In Floridablanca, the campus is more remote, and the UIS at its main campus offers many nice places to visit,” he said.
The tour, which took place over two days, culminated with a space for reflection in the Luis A. Calvo auditorium, where students participated in a thematic talk presented by professionals from the Directorate of Communications.

Student Sebastián Mendoza shared his enthusiasm for the experience: “This tour has allowed us to get to know and belong to this institution. Without a doubt, it is the best thing that could have happened to us as students, since it gives us the necessary knowledge to understand that with good execution we can achieve great results”.
On the other hand, another student mentioned that “it is quite useful because in our career it serves us to enrich us with training on the basic heritage and culture of the university, as well as its transcendence in its most important symbols.”
“This activity not only strengthens the bond between students and their alma mater, but also promotes the appreciation of the cultural heritage that represents the UIS in the region,” said Carol Juliana Arenas, UIS student.
These activities are a valuable resource for the student community to know that the Universidad Industrial de Santander UIS is surrounded by assets that are cultural heritage, a legacy of history and transformation of higher education in the region.
