
The UIS sports teams continue with a good start in the competitions of the Zonal Phase of the Ascun University Games.
On the second and third day of programming, the victory of the men’s soccer team stands out, which defeated the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana 2-1 in its debut thanks to a double goal by Joseph Pereira.
“The goal was to start on the right foot and we got the victory, now the idea is to continue improving and correcting in the victory. Personally very happy because it is my first Ascun, I scored two goals and thus helped and gave the best for the team, “said Joseph Pereira, Civil Engineering student.

The next game of this team is on Friday at noon at the Primero de Marzo Stadium against the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga (Unab).
The futsal team also debuted with a 4-3 victory over Unab with goals by Miguel Acosta, Kevin López, Johan Sebastián Rojas and Álvaro Maldonado. Now the team coached by Isidro Díaz will face the Technological Units of Santander this Thursday at 6:00 p. m. at the Sol de Aquino Coliseum of the Santo Tomás University.

Finally, in men’s volleyball, another success was achieved with a 25-14, 25-13 and 25-16 victory over Universidad de Investigación y Desarrollo (UDI) in their first match. A tribute was paid to Daniel Yesith Velasco Negrete, a Metallurgical Engineering student and member of the 2024 team, who passed away a few weeks ago.
The next match will be on Saturday, April 5 against Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana at 6:00 p.m. at the UIS Coliseum.
