The School of Physics of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) and the Coordination of LA-CoNGA Physics invite the university community to be part of the event ‘Women who do physics’, a reflective space with national and international guests in charge of addressing the topic: Stories of academic women in Latin America and Europe: life trajectory.

The virtual meeting will be broadcast on the official YouTube profile and channel of LA-CoNGA Physics (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcXSolYkpCW_iYxHrnSJw0w) this Friday, February 11th from 9:00 a.m. Colombian and Ecuadorian time, 10:00 a.m. Venezuelan time and 15:00 p.m. Central European time.

This academic space is developed in the framework of the ‘International Day of Women and Girls in Science’, which will be in charge of Reina Camacho Toro, Physics graduate from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, and PhD in Physics from Université Blaise Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand, France; and Joany Manjarrés Ramos, Physics graduate from Universidad de Mérida, Venezuela and MSc in nuclear physics, particles, astroparticles and cosmology, University of Paris.

Guests from Colombia, Ecuador, Switzerland and France will be connected to give a brief account of their academic and research career and personal experiences, with the aim of expanding the possibility of access to resources for training in physics and data science in the public.

LA-CoNGA Physics is the union of six countries and eleven universities worldwide that offer academic programs, innovative platforms, diversity of content, laboratory practices and global interaction for new generations of physicists. Among the universities that stand out in Colombia are Universidad Antonio Nariño (Bogotá) and Universidad Industrial de Santander (Bucaramanga); in Ecuador, Universidad San Francisco (Quito) and Universidad de Investigación y Tecnología Experimental Yachay (Urcuquí); in Peru, Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (Lima) and Universidad Nacional de San Marcos (Lima); in Venezuela, Universidad Central de Caracas (Caracas) and Universidad Simón Bolívar (Caracas); in France, Université de Paris (Paris) and University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse III (Toulouse); and in Germany, Technische Universitaet Dresden (Dresden).
