Starting at 7:00 a.m. this Sunday, March 6th, the 31st edition of the Athletic Race organized by the Universidad Industrial de Santander will begin. This edition will be unprecedented because it will be run inside the university campus.
As a precautionary measure against the presence of Covid-19, the organization decided that only the UIS community (students, professors and administrative staff) will participate in-person. This dynamic was decided because daily monitoring of staff attending the UIS is done and therefore there is a greater control of health conditions.
In total there will be a four-kilometer run, starting at the parking lot of the Luis A. Calvo auditorium and ending at the athletics track of the Primero de Marzo Stadium. Women will start first, regardless of category, and once they finish, it will be time for the men to start.
“We return with the in-person modality of the Athletic Race, we will have a four-kilometer circuit. We hope that in the future, hopefully next year, we will be able to take it to the city so that the whole population can participate and do physical activity”, said Fabio Villafrades González, director of the Physical Education and Sports Department.
It is estimated that there will be about 3,000 participants in this edition that will once again bring together the UIS Community, thanks to the practice of physical activity.
The Athletic Race will have special coverage on the University’s Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/UISenLinea) and Extratiempo (https://www.facebook.com/ExtratiempoCO). Also, the transmission will be heard by the UIS radio stations. For more information write to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 3172699692 or 6344000 extensions 1143 or 1145.
