The beginning of 2022 represents an opportunity for students from different Higher Education Institutions to return in person to their different campuses to continue their academic activities.

It is for this reason that the Network of Education, Research, and Development Institutions of Eastern Colombia (UNIRED) started an awareness campaign to encourage more people to re-experience being physically at different university spaces and sharing with classmates, in addition to having the physical presence of the professors.

From the beginning, the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) joined this initiative, and since January 11th, academic and administrative activities have been resumed at 100%. This is the reason why students, professors, and workers are once again on their various campuses.

Likewise, each institution is taking the necessary biosecurity measures to control the pandemic in the best possible way within its facilities. In the case of the UIS, the mandatory use of face masks is maintained, as well as the completion of the daily mobility passport app, in which each person reports their health status and consults the agreed distancing provisions.

“The restart of this second stage of our second semester of 2021 implies strengthening our individual and social responsibility for the full development of pedagogical mediation processes, complying with behaviors such as the proper use of face masks and carrying out preventive social isolation in reduced spaces to avoid risks in the entire community,” assured Orlando Pardo Martínez, UIS Academic Vice Rector.

The UIS, as a member of UNIRED, strongly supports the campaign proposed by the corporation to contribute to the development of a better society.

UNIRED is a mixed, non-profit corporation, composed of education, research, and development institutions from eastern Colombia, which integrates the departments of Santander, Boyacá, Norte de Santander, Arauca, and Casanare.

In addition to the UIS, it is currently made up of the la Universidad de Santander (Udes), Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga (Unab), Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB seccional Bucaramanga), Universidad Santo Tomás (Usta seccional Bucaramanga), Fundación Universitaria de San Gil (Unisangil), Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander Ocaña (UFPSO), Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios (Uniminuto), Fundación Universitaria FCV and the Centro de Innovación y Tecnología ICP-Ecopetrol as an honorary member.
