The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) renewed its Quality Management System certification under the NTC ISO 9001:2015 standard. This recognition, which extends the validity of the certification for three more years, until 2027, underscores the university’s firm commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
With a track record of 16 years maintaining this certification, UIS has demonstrated its dedication and effort to rigorously comply with each of the requirements established by the ISO standard. This commitment has been fundamental to ensure that the institution’s mission, strategic, evaluation and support processes remain examples of quality and efficiency in the educational field.
For Gerardo Latorre Bayona, Administrative Vice-Rector, “it means the ratification of the high quality of our educational, research and extension services that we offer to society”. At the same time, he emphasized that it has been a team effort of each of the leaders of the different departments of the university.
The renewal of the certification was celebrated in a special ceremony, where the official presentation of the certificate took place. The ceremony was attended by leaders and facilitators from the central headquarters, as well as from the regional headquarters, who joined remotely. During the event, the importance of collaborative work was highlighted, emphasizing how this collective effort has been key to consolidate the UIS as an institution increasingly efficient, transparent and committed to serving society.
Having ISO 9001:2015 means that it will continue to be a very competitive institution, because it demonstrates that it complies with international standards; at the same time, because it will generate a lot of confidence in the sector and it will surely do well in the academic rankings, to the extent that its academic processes will be consistent with the needs of the global market”, said Diana Milena Arango Barrera, Eastern Regional Director of Icontec.
This achievement not only recognizes compliance with international standards, but also reaffirms the purpose of the Universidad Industrial de Santander to continue improving day by day. UIS is committed to providing high quality education and services, responding effectively to the needs of the university community and society in general. The renewal of the ISO 9001:2015 certification is, therefore, a testimony of the university’s continuous effort to achieve excellence in all its areas.
For Juliana Peña Ayala, Coordinator of the Integrated Quality Management System “The renewal of the ISO 9001:2015 certification granted by the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification – ICONTEC, is a clear reflection of the constant effort of the Universidad Industrial de Santander to maintain high quality standards”. This recognition not only highlights the work done during the last 16 years, but also reaffirms the institution’s commitment to continuous improvement and excellence, consolidating it as an innovative university committed to serving society.
