A UIS team, made up of engineers Gilberto Díaz, Édgar Mesa and Róbinson Delgado, officials of the Rector’s Office and the DTIC, visited the Huawei Next Generation Technology Research and Innovation Centers in China to learn first-hand about the digital transformation process of some Chinese universities, with emphasis on the area of networks and information security.
Within the agenda, the UIS team visited the Shenzhen campus Huawei Headquarters, accompanied by engineers Xiaochun Wi and Li Yang, where they learned about ICT solutions and showroom education.

They also observed a demonstration of real-time solutions to support the educational process through a centralized platform for security management, asset management, geolocation, alarm management, access, etc., of the various university campuses.
They were also shown the advances in Video Collaboration, Connectivity (Traditional and GPON), Datacenter and storage; they were explained the details of Huawei Academy and the possibility of collaboration in research and development at a global level, as well as the different aspects of the training plan for students and teachers.

During the tour they visited, in the city of Shenzhen, the Huawei research and development campus in Dongguan, where there are 23 laboratories dedicated to new technologies. This campus has the particularity that its buildings evoke the buildings of the most emblematic European universities.
In the city of Tianjin, a meeting was held at the International Cooperation Office with Dr. Zhan Ling and Dr. Liu Wenwei, where the different possibilities of collaboration and student exchange were reviewed. They visited the main Datacenter that constitutes the HUB (HUB or hub is a device used to concentrate the wiring of a network and expand it), of all public universities in China, and they were shown all the advanced technologies created by Huawei to support digital transformation.
In the city of Beijing, a meeting was held with representatives of the Beijing Normal University
where the most significant aspects of the digital transformation and the 5G Smart Campus technologies of this university, based on Huawei technologies, were reviewed.
