With the objective of strengthening research, technological development and innovation in the department, the UIS Barrancabermeja headquarters was the venue for the sixth provincial dialogue for the construction of the Public Policy on Science, Technology and Innovation (CTeI) of Santander. This space for discussion and collective construction brought together representatives of private companies, local and departmental public organizations, and professionals from the School of Economics of the UIS, who contributed their knowledge and visions to consolidate a strategy that promotes the progress of the region.
During the day, attendees participated in a dynamic and collaborative workshop, where they had the opportunity to express ideas, proposals and questions based on guiding questions. This exercise allowed the gathering of multiple perspectives and needs from the productive, academic and governmental sectors, enriching the public policy formulation process.

The event was held within the framework of the agreement signed between the Government of Santander and the School of Economics of the Universidad Industrial de Santander, with the purpose of designing concrete actions to promote science, technology and innovation in the department, promoting the articulation between academia, the private sector and the State.
The Secretary of Information and Communication Technologies of Santander, Shirley Castellanos, highlighted the importance of these spaces to consolidate an effective public policy:
“This space for dialogue is fundamental to build a public policy that responds to the real needs of the department. Science, technology and innovation are key pillars for the development of Santander, and only through joint work between academia, the productive sector and the government will we be able to strengthen these strategic areas. From the ICT Secretariat, we remain committed to creating opportunities that drive digital transformation and sustainable growth in the region.”

For his part, Héctor Paz, research professor at Unipaz, highlighted the role of the institution in strengthening CTeI processes and the importance of dialogues for the articulation of proposals: Caption: In the picture you can see the attendees participating in the participatory construction exercise that took place.

The participation of academia, the productive sector and government entities in these meetings allows a collective construction based on the real needs of the territory, strengthening governance and generating proposals that respond to the current and future challenges of our region.”

“For the District Mayor’s Office of Barrancabermeja, it is essential to lead and promote technological development in the Magdalena Medio region. This is only possible by identifying the needs of citizens, which allows us to establish intervention plans that benefit people, academia and the State. In this sense, spaces such as these dialogues are key for the articulation of efforts and the construction of effective strategies. We extend our gratitude to the Government of Santander and the Universidad Industrial de Santander for the invitation to participate in this exercise of collective construction, as it allows us to contribute to the formulation of a public policy aligned with both departmental and national challenges.”

Our participation in these spaces allows us to contribute from the productive sector and contribute to the strengthening of the technological ecosystem in the region. We appreciate the invitation to this dialogue, as it gives us the opportunity to articulate efforts with academia and the public sector to promote initiatives that generate a positive impact on the economic and social development of the territory.”
