The Secretary of Health and Environment of Bucaramanga convened different key actors in the area of health to support the day of education and awareness about the vaccine against the Human Papilloma Virus, HPV.
Deans and representatives of the faculties of medicine from different universities in the city met to build strategies to increase HPV vaccination coverage.
The vaccine is completely free for boys and girls between 9 and 17 years of age. The challenge is to increase the number of vaccinated to prevent infection by certain types of HPV and some of the forms of cancer that are related to these types of the virus.
