The UIS celebrated Christmas with the ‘Festival of Lights’.

The university community enjoyed for more than 10 days the ‘Fiesta de las Luces’, one of the most anticipated events every year for being held during the Christmas season.

It was the space for neighbors and friends of the UIS to enter the campus to enjoy the singing, dancing, puppet shows and other artistic expressions that were part of this year’s program.

“We had a positive balance with significant attendance in each of the spaces available. The José Antonio Galán Open Air Auditorium had a daily capacity of 150 to 200 people, the theater tent with 200 attendees per day and the Luis A. Calvo with an average of 500,” said Juliana Costo Preciado, UIS cultural director.

For 2024, we wanted to highlight the constant work of the institutional artistic groups, who prepared a new repertoire for this celebration, filling the nights of the UIS with color and joy.

“The venues were an important part of this celebration with the presentation of the groups and a notorious participation in each of the scenarios arranged for them, Barrancabermeja, Malaga, Socorro and Barbosa. From the Cultural Direction and all the work team, we appreciate the attendance to each of the events, where we received a 98% satisfaction and we hope to continue with these spaces in 2025”, added Costo Preciado.

One of the most special days was Saturday, December 7, when the community in general gathered at the central campus to commemorate Candlelight Day in the company of friends and family.
